Seriously seeking merrymakers
We have a wonderful community building that's just beckoning us to have a good time in it. With a few more party helpers, there could be more fun events. Are you new in the neighborhood and would like to meet people? Have you got a great idea for a community event that you'd like to share? If you'd like to help the Social Committee make our neighborhood an enjoyable and connected community, please contact Sheila Jaruseski today and ask her what you can do to help.
Second Book Club forming
The Greensprings West Book Club has been so successful that a second group is forming. Our current book club members rotate hosting the monthly book club meetings in our homes. We enjoy the intimate home setting and prefer not to take in more members than a home setting can accommodate. Since GSW book club is so popular and so much fun, we decided to help start a second book club. If you are interested in joining this new second book club, please contact Marilyn Schaefer.
Meetings are usually once a month, with each member rotating hosting responsibilities. The host selects the next book to be read and leads the discussion the following month. Our wonderful Public Library System has "Gab Bags", which provides 10 to 15 copies of the same book and you are able to keep the books for 2 months. That has been very helpful. If there is enough interest and a second GSW Book Club is organized, we thought it might be fun to combine our meetings once or twice a year. We would then meet at the Greensprings West Club House to discuss a book together.
Protect Your Home and Belongings
A vacant house - or one that appears to be vacant - is an appealing target to a burglar. Download the Neighborhood Watch Vacation Checklist and follow the directions to keep your home safe from burglary during your vacation. As the holiday season approaches, if you go out of town, ask a neighbor to watch your porch for holiday deliveries.
Tips on Preventing Identity Fraud
As the holiday season approaches and perhaps we use our credit cards more frequently, it pays to become more aware of how to prevent identity fraud. Click here to read this timely article published by the National Crime Prevention Council.

Thinking about a fence? A shed? A play set for the kids?
You may have recently received a notice from the homeowners' association if...
-- Your trash can isn't properly screened from view.
-- You have a trailer in your driveway or yard.
-- You have an unauthorized play set in your yard.
-- You have added a fence, shed or other permanent structure without permission.
Our covenants and restrictions state how these items should be handled. Some items must be approved by our Architectural Review Committee (here's the form) before the project starts. Please read the restrictions that you received at your real estate closing to ensure that you are following the neighborhood's code in these areas. If you cannot locate your copy, request another copy from David Drexler.
